Geylang East Home For The Aged was founded in December 1978. It is a community home situated at HDB void deck and managed fully by a team of dedicated volunteers. It has provided many needy elderly with a place of comfort over the years. As we are not a member of the Community Chest, we depend on donations from well-wishers, public and we also organized events and activities to raise funds to defray expenses.
OBJECTIVES
a) To provide a place of abode and proper care to aged persons who are in need, including the provision of recreational facilities, which will also be available for use by other senior citizens.
b) To provide community-based day care, befriending services, rehabilitation services as well as other charitable services and assistance to the elderly, especially those who are weak and poor, without discrimination as to race, language or religion.
c) To carry out welfare work for the good of mankind, for example the provision of financial and personal support to those who are old and weak.
Application for admission to Home
Applications for admission are made by the welfare officers of MSF, the hospitals’ medical social workers or by the family members of the applicant. The Executive Committee would process these applications.
Eligibility Criteria
Residential Care Service
• At least 60 years old and above
• Singapore citizens or permanent residents
• Free from infectious diseases
• Mentally sound and ambulant
• Fit for communal living
Fees for Residential Care:
Service charges: S$1000 per month
Laundry fees: S$40 per month
Refundable deposit: S$2000
Those with financial difficulties may apply for government subsidies, on a case by case basis.
